Musicians' Clinic
There are a limited number of facilities specializing in the non-surgical management of repetitive strain injuries related to musicians and their instruments. Recovery and biomechanical retraining require treatment by specialized professionals who are familiar with the principles of treatment and who have accomplished musical backgrounds.
The Musicians' Clinic brings together four types of professionals:
- physicians experienced in soft-tissue diagnostics and familiar with problems of performing artists
- occupational and physical therapists
- musicians with physical medicine and retraining backgrounds
- a skilled craftsman to individually modify instruments
Overview of Services
The Musicians' Clinic includes three arms:
- retraining and clinical care
- outreach and education

The Retraining and Clinical Care program is located in the Ergonomic Technology Center at UConn Health Center and incorporates the Center's emphasis on biodynamics and non-surgical therapy.
